The main reason for having your dryer vent cleaned is it reduces the risk of fire. The lint is extremely flammable. When your dryer venting system is not venting properly, this will cause your dryer to work harder and overheat. Potentially igniting the lint. The fire could then spread throughout the walls of a house at a high rate of speed. Risking the loss of your home and/or injuries.
A leaf blower is not as effective as our machines. In fact, you can cause a bigger issue. There can be up to 30 feet of ductwork in your walls for the dryer venting. This could include multiple up/down and bends. If there is a major blockage in the ductwork and you blow lint through the ductwork, there is a possibility it will just continue to accumulate at the block. Causing more or a risk of fire.
According to the U.S. Fire Administration's National Fire Incident Reporting System, there are an average of 15,000 fires caused by dryers and their venting systems. Resulting in over $200 million in property damage and hundreds of deaths.
We recommend having your dryer vent cleaned at least once a year. If you use your dryer more than the average, we suggest every six months.
For our basic service, we should be in and out of your home in about 30-45 minutes. This can, however, vary based on the type of venting system and length.
Yes. However, you run the risk of doing more harm than good if you are not properly trained. The equipment you can buy from the local hardware store is not commercial grade and less durable. Most come in 4-foot sections that screw together to cover the length of your ductwork. If you accidentally spin the tool the wrong way, the sections will come apart and become stuck. Making it impossible to get out without costing you hundreds of dollars.
